Practical Tantra

Personally, what I've found so compelling about the path of tantra is that it is one of very few ‘spiritual’ paths that has deep respect and reverence for the human body and sexuality. So, for me this satisfied some of what I wanted to know about the energies that gave rise to the entire field of embodied life, and what might happen if we learned how to harness those energies and use them towards the development of our vast and as yet untapped human potential.

Many of the deadliest, and most catastrophic illnesses that we face today have their origins in our reproductive circuitry...the breast cancers, prostate, ovarian and uterine cancers, and AIDS, to name the most obvious ones. Is this related to the eons of ignorance and repression that has surrounded sexuality since the nature-based path of tantra was forced underground thousands of years ago? I've come to think it is.

Tantra however, is not all about sexuality. It is essentially a path of energetic 'purification'. This is not to imply that we humans are 'impure', or from a more religious point of view, sinners. Not at all. Rather it is to imply that we have to purify, or in more tantric terms 'transmute' the shadow-y aspects of our nature. The energies of lust, aggression, greed, domination, (in other words 'power over') and so on, to actually get to what’s real about love and about holistic high vibrational wellness.

From everything I've gleaned so far, it is ur ability to live in love and vibrant good health whether we are sexual or celibate, that is the main factor that will allow us to truly thrive and create the Heaven on Earth humanity has dreamed of for so long
